Recommendations and opinions

Each year recommendations and opinions for improving taxation systems and administration are submitted to the government – the Ministry of Finance, the National Tax Agency, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications – as well as political parties.

Free Tax Consultation

Venue of gratis tax consultation
During the annual period of filing final return, gratis tax consultation corners are set up throughout the country, where certified public tax accountants give advice. In addition, similar free consultation is provided during the “Think about Tax Week,” November 11 to 17, and on the Anniversary of Certified Public Tax Accountants on February 23.

Making use of vast repertoire of experience in tax matters of certified public tax accountants, various activities contributed to the public interest include participating in the external audit of local public entities, the adult guardian system, civil and domestic mediation programs in ADR and activities operated by the Japan Legal Support Center.

Literary Commendation

From among theses and books on taxation systems and administration and the certified public tax accountants' system, those deemed to have special merit are selected every year and their authors are commended with the“Japan Tax Research Award.”

Taxation Assistance

People receiving professional advice from certified public tax accountants
Various measures for persons unable to consult certified public tax accountants owing to financial difficulties include setting up tax guidance corners, sending certified public tax accountants based on agreement with private tax related organizations, and the like, and maintaining tax consultation corners during the time for filing final returns.

In 1992 the Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants’ Association(AOTCA) was established to promote information exchange and friendship among tax consultant associations in these regions. Since its inception the Federation has fully supported AOTCA’s activities. In addition, exchanges with associations in other regions, such as Bundessteuerberaterkammer (Federal Chamber of Tax Consultants) in Germany and Confédération Fisal Européenne (CFE) in Europe, are being promoted.
